Send the complete exported scan report when possible, plus the full VIN, country or region, exact symptoms, vehicle condition, recent work, and the outcome you want. Do not clear faults simply to make the report look cleaner.
Start with the vehicle identity and region
German vehicles can have different modules, software, emissions equipment, options, and security rules depending on the VIN and market. Include the full VIN or chassis number, year, model, engine if known, country or region, and any relevant factory or aftermarket equipment.
State whether the vehicle starts, runs, drives, charges normally, or is currently disabled. If it has been tuned, retrofitted, jump-started, flooded, collision-damaged, or recently repaired, say so. That history can change how related faults are interpreted.
Export the complete report when the scan tool allows it
A complete PDF or report is usually more useful than a few selected screenshots because it preserves the module list, fault wording, status, and scan time in one record. If an export is unavailable, send clear screenshots in order and include the tool date, ignition state, engine state, and battery voltage if shown.
- Include every scanned module, not only the engine computer.
- Keep the original fault wording and manufacturer-specific code numbers visible.
- Include present, stored, intermittent, history, or shadow status when the tool provides it.
- Attach freeze-frame or fault-environment data when available.
- Include a dash photo or short video showing the exact warning message or symptom.
Describe the decision you need to make
A useful request is specific: identify which evidence deserves hands-on testing, organize faults after a battery event, understand whether several warnings may share a power or communication problem, or prepare questions for a local specialist. Include when the problem occurs, how often it happens, and what has already been tested or replaced.
For coding or tuning questions, describe the exact desired result. The review can identify missing compatibility information and a responsible next step, but it does not perform a live connection, flash, coding session, programming procedure, or tune.
What a remote scan report cannot prove
A scan report is recorded electronic evidence, not a physical inspection. It cannot by itself confirm wiring integrity, mechanical condition, fluid leaks, water intrusion, connector damage, component function, safe drivability, or the cause of every fault. Old and low-voltage faults can remain after the original event is gone.
The $49 Remote Scan Review returns plain-English findings, missing evidence, important limits, and a practical next-step roadmap by email. Hands-on diagnosis is still required whenever the answer depends on measurement or physical access to the vehicle.
