Why a module-wide scan matters
A basic emissions-code reader may only show part of the engine record. A supported full-system scan can collect information from other available control modules and show whether several systems recorded faults around the same event. That broader baseline can reveal questions worth resolving before money changes hands.
The scan is still a starting point. A fault naming a component does not prove that the component failed, and a vehicle with few stored faults is not automatically healthy. Recent clearing, low voltage, incomplete monitor operation, intermittent problems, or unsupported modules can limit what the electronic record shows.
Useful conditions to document at the vehicle
- Every current dash warning and startup message
- Available module faults and their present, stored, or intermittent status
- Battery and charging observations at the time of the screen
- Mileage displayed by the vehicle and any relevant module inconsistencies the equipment exposes
- Supported live data or active-test observations tied to a specific concern
- Recent battery, module, collision, water-intrusion, tuning, or repair history disclosed by the seller
What this service does not replace
Titan Diagnostics' $149 Electronic Pre-Purchase Screen is a stationary electronic review with written observations and limitations. It is not a complete mechanical inspection, structural or collision inspection, emissions inspection, title search, roadworthiness decision, safety certification, warranty, or prediction of future failures.
Arrange separate qualified checks for brakes, tires, suspension, steering, leaks, body structure, prior collision repair, underbody condition, maintenance records, title history, and any concern that requires a lift or road test. Remote descriptions cannot establish that a vehicle is safe to drive.
Coordinate access before the appointment
Ask the seller to approve diagnostic access, provide all available keys, avoid clearing faults, and have the car parked in a safe lawful location. Send the VIN, listing, Memphis-area location, mileage, warning lights, and your main concern before the appointment so compatibility and travel can be reviewed.
If the vehicle is at a dealer or auction, confirm its rules and time limits first. No electronic screen can guarantee that every module will communicate or that an intermittent concern will occur during a single visit.
